Balene, the first toothbrush in the world that cleans the inside and outside of the teeth at the same time, has scientific evidence that ensures effective cleaning of the dental surface, without damaging the gums and being able to remove more dental plaque. in less time (vs. a conventional brush).

Scientific studies that support the effectiveness of Balene

In total, there are four studies that we have collected and that have been carried out on Balene. Here is a brief summary of each of them:

Abstract presented at Europeiro (Copenhagen 2022) of the study directed by Doctors David Herrera and Mariano Sanz

This study was carried out with the first Balene manual toothbrush prototype to validate the functionality of the concept and the bacterial contamination of the elastomer filaments against conventional nylon.

The study determined that Balene was effective in removing dental plaque. In addition, the users under study stated that they felt correct dental cleaning after using the double-sided brush.

Balene plaque removal efficacy study vs. conventional brush, directed by Doctor Fabián Pérez González

This study aimed at removing dental plaque from the Balene manual toothbrush compared to the conventional nylon bristle toothbrush. The result showed that the Balene toothbrush is capable of removing 74.4% more plaque than a conventional nylon toothbrush in 60 seconds of use.

Microbiological test of antibacterial efficacy of the Tyflex filaments of Balene toothbrushes

The Balene toothbrush filaments are manufactured using an injection system in which an elastomer is combined with an antibacterial additive. This additive remains active during the entire useful life of the brush (6 months), and is Food Grade and complies with FDA requirements.

The study carried out on the latest generation Tyflex bristles of the Balene brush determined that this type of material shows an efficiency greater than 99.9% in the elimination of bacteria that inhabit the brush against Escherichia coli (E-coli) and Staphylococcus aureus.

Durability test and physical-mechanical capacities of Balene filaments vs conventional brush

To perform this study, an accelerated life test machine was designed that simulates the movement and pressure of a real toothbrush, assuming two minutes of use about three times a day.

Continuous brushing cycles were replicated for the Balene toothbrush and for a conventional nylon bristle toothbrush.

The result of the study determined that the Tyflex bristles of the Balene brush are able to withstand cycles equivalent to 6 months of use while maintaining their physical-mechanical capabilities. However, the nylon bristles of conventional brushes only lasted 14 weeks.

About Balene

With Balene, the first toothbrush in the world that cleans the inside and outside of the teeth for you at the same time, it is possible to reach those areas inside the mouth that are difficult to access. Therefore, the cleaning becomes deeper.

Poor brushing is often not only caused by the type of brush, but also by human error. Therefore, Balene is designed considering the human anatomy to embrace the different dental surfaces. The effectiveness of plaque removal does not depend on time, attitude or skill of the individual, but is delegated to the brush.

It should be noted that to verify the effectiveness of the innovations incorporated into the conventional toothbrush by Balene, the Complutense University of Madrid has carried out a clinical study. In this post you will obtain all the necessary information about the study and the results obtained.
