Dr. David Herrera, along with other healthcare professionals, have conducted a study on Balene for the scientific journal Antibiotics, a highly recognized international media outlet.

The objective of the study was the removal of dental plaque from Balene compared to a conventional brush with nylon bristles. We tell you what the study consisted of below.

Scientific study in Antibiotics on the removal of Balene plaque

Over the centuries, the toothbrush has hardly changed in terms of its design. Balene has arrived to revolutionize tooth brushing, since it is capable of cleaning the internal and external face of the teeth at the same time.

Dr. David Herrera and his colleagues put the Balene toothbrush under study for the journal Antibiotics. The objective was to compare the effectiveness of Balene, which cleans the inside and outside of the teeth at the same time and which has the latest generation of Tyflex bristles, with a conventional nylon bristle toothbrush.

Balene study on plaque removal

The study had the collaboration of 24 systemically healthy volunteers. For the selection of these subjects, it was determined that they should be patients with good oral health, who brush their teeth at least once or twice a day, who were not smokers and who were not undergoing orthodontic treatment.

As variables, plaque indices in teeth and gums and bacterial contamination of toothbrush bristles were measured by quantitative polymerase reaction. All these aspects were analyzed using a general linear model of Friedman and Wilcoxon.

Due to the cross-over design of this study, in which both Balene plaque removal and bacterial contamination of the sows were tested, a one-week washout period was established between the two rounds of the study.

Results and conclusions of the study

As results, Dr. David Herrera and his team determined that Balene allows effective dental cleaning in less time. The American Dental Association recommends that brushing should be at least 2 minutes. Since Balene cleans the inside and outside of the teeth at the same time, the brushing time in the study was determined to be 40 seconds.

During this time, those patients who used Balene stated that they were able to brush their teeth satisfactorily, while those who used a conventional brush recognized that in those 40 seconds they could only clean half of their teeth and never the entire mouth.

Once the study was completed, it was concluded that the Balene toothbrush design is effective and safe compared to the conventional nylon bristle toothbrush. In addition, the users under study stated that dental hygiene with Balene was satisfactory.

About Balene

With Balene, the first toothbrush in the world that cleans the inside and outside of the teeth for you at the same time, it is possible to reach those areas inside the mouth that are difficult to access. Therefore, the cleaning becomes deeper.

Poor brushing is often not only caused by the type of brush, but also by human error. Therefore, Balene is designed considering the human anatomy to embrace the different dental surfaces. The effectiveness of plaque removal does not depend on time, attitude or skill of the individual, but is delegated to the brush.
